Honest Concerns
When it comes to churches and money, there are real questions people have.
You may have heard or even thought things like:
“Pastors talk about money too much. Shouldn’t they just trust God?”
“Churches only care about getting my money.” And honestly, some of those concerns are understandable. Sadly, there have been times when churches and leaders have mishandled money or broken trust. When that happens, it hurts people and damages the witness of the church. But we also want you to know that this isn’t the story of every church.
Faithful Stewardship
At UCity, we take stewardship seriously.
Everything that is given is treated as something entrusted to us by God and by the people who believe in the mission of this church. Our goal is to handle those resources with wisdom, integrity, and accountability.
For us, generosity isn’t about pressure—it’s about participation in what God is doing.
As Scripture reminds us: “Faithful is He who calls you, and He will do it.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:24
We believe that when we faithfully do what we can, God provides what we cannot.
Why Churches Talk About Money
In many ways, managing a church is similar to managing a household. There are always real needs to care for:
Ongoing costs to maintain the spaces we use. Unexpected repairs or replacements
Opportunities to grow, improve, and serve people better
Just like in our homes, some expenses are predictable and others aren’t. And as the church grows and reaches more people, the needs grow with it.
Our Promise
While we can’t promise you a church that never talks about money, we can promise you a church that approaches it with the right heart.
We want to be a church that is:
Open and approachable
Honest and accountable
Thoughtful and resourceful
Faithful and hopeful
Our prayer is that God will continue to provide everything needed so that we can keep helping people find hope, community, and life in Jesus.
If you ever have questions about giving or how resources are used, we’d always be happy to talk.
