UCity | The Church @ Opportunity House
Four Decades of Compassionate Service
Since 1984, Opportunity House has stood as one of Cabarrus County's most vital lifelines for people experiencing homelessness. What began as a grassroots initiative led by local churches and civic leaders has evolved into a cornerstone of compassionate outreach, serving over 15,000 individuals throughout its remarkable 40-year history.
The organization's mission reflects the heart of Christ-centered community care: serving people experiencing homelessness with dignity, relational support, and tangible care while helping them navigate toward self-sufficiency. This isn't charity that creates dependency—it's empowerment that recognizes the inherent worth and potential of every person who walks through their doors.
Daily Ministry That Transforms Lives
Opportunity House operates as both a practical resource center and a spiritual community where authentic relationships flourish. Their comprehensive programming addresses the whole person—body, mind, and spirit, and that is where UCity comes in!
Ready for Spiritual Transformation
Opportunity House represents more than an exceptional service organization—it embodies a community prepared for the kind of spiritual covering and pastoral guidance that UCity wants to provide. Their existing faith-based programming, commitment to treating people with dignity, and track record of sustainable impact create the perfect foundation for deeper spiritual formation and discipleship opportunities.
The convergence of UCity's missional calling with Opportunity House's established ministry creates unprecedented potential for demonstrating what Acts 2 community looks like in 21st-century Concord. Together, we can model authentic Christian community where caring for the most vulnerable becomes the natural expression of gospel transformation.
Because of all this, UCity is excited to start a Sunday morning worship gathering at the Opportunity House Sundays at 11:00 am, starting Sept 21st 2025!

FAQs
-
On Sunday mornings at Opportunity House, we’ll gather for simple, heartfelt worship without a lot of production—just voices and instruments lifted to God. Some weeks the message will be shared live, and other weeks it will be streamed from our Highland Creek location. After the service, guests will be welcomed to stay and share a meal together, experiencing both spiritual and physical nourishment in community.
